How to transfer a bicycle title
When a shop sells a new bicycle it filed, TitleVelo places that bicycle on the buyer’s account and emails them. A later change of owner uses a claim code. The current holder creates the code and gives it to the next owner. Saying the code and sending it by AirDrop are the same handoff. The title moves only when the next owner accepts that code from their own account.
Both people need their own accounts. The code lasts 14 days. Do not send it to anyone except the person who is receiving the bicycle.
Before either path
Create the claim code
The holder opens the bicycle in their garage and chooses Create claim code. The screen then shows six characters. That account remains the holder until the code is accepted. A shop uses this code when it resells a bicycle it took in. A new bicycle the shop filed is placed on the buyer’s account instead.

Say the code
Read the six characters to the buyer. They sign in on their own phone, open My Garage, and choose Claim with Code. They type the code and accept it. Letters and numbers are enough. The buyer does not need the seller’s phone.

Transfer with AirDrop
On the iPhone that is signed in as the holder, tap Transfer with AirDrop and choose the buyer’s iPhone. AirDrop carries a link to the code. The buyer opens that link in the browser where their own TitleVelo account is signed in. The code is filled in. They still confirm the claim.

Accept the title
After the code is entered, the buyer accepts it. A transfer after the first shop sale costs $1.99, and the button says Pay $1.99 and claim. A shop that takes the bicycle in is not charged, and the button says Claim Ownership. When the claim succeeds, the bicycle appears in the buyer’s garage and leaves the seller’s list.

If there is no code to give
A seller who cannot create a claim code does not hold that TitleVelo record. A screenshot of a title card is not the handoff. Look up the serial first, then ask for the code from the account that holds it. A bicycle with no record yet is registered by the owner, with a serial photo and a receipt.
Questions
Does the title move when the code is created?
No. The current holder keeps the record until the next person accepts the code from their own account. An unused code expires after 14 days.
Can the buyer use the seller’s phone?
No. The buyer accepts the code in their own account. Accepting it on the seller’s phone would leave the title in the seller’s account.
What does AirDrop send?
AirDrop sends a link to the claim code. It does not sign the buyer in. The buyer opens that link in the browser where their TitleVelo account is already signed in.
Who pays?
A new bicycle sold by the shop that filed it is placed on the buyer’s account at no charge. A later private transfer costs $1.99. A shop that claims a bicycle into its showroom is not charged.
